How many people did the KRYPTOSPHERE® network introduce to Bitcoin?
150,000 people

Before we witness Bitcoin’s fourth halving, I thought it would be fun to estimate how many people the KRYPTOSPHERE® network (hereinafter “KS”) has been able to reach since its inception in 2017.
This article aims — with a concrete example — to show how important are non-profit projects for technologies adoption. The impact of non-profit organizations is real, altruistic and too often underestimated.
Without claiming to propose a precise methodology, the idea is to promote the concept of measuring regularly the global positive impact of NPOs, in this case regarding Bitcoin adoption (this concept obviously applies to any other technology).
To do this, some data from inside and outside the KRYPTOSPHERE® community are used and detailed bellow in order to project scenarios, from the most pessimistic, realistic, than optimistic.
To what extent has KS been spreading the word about Bitcoin since 2017?
Please note that it’s impossible to tell the difference between those “reached” versus “educated” about Bitcoin, through KS members. For moderation purposes, this article uses the term “reach” rather than “educated” (because there are always more people reached than actually educated and it’s not possible to calculate this last figure with any precision from KS).
However, in either case it is assumed that KS has been a forerunner and driving force for the adoption of Bitcoin in France, this article showing to what extent using metrics.
Please note that these figures only take into account the direct educational impact of KS members and activities, and not the educational impact of others who may have been initially initiated by KS members and who may then have trained others themselves.
Data used for the scenarios
- Number of members who have joined KS (from internal database) : 2000 members minimum,
- Number of online subscribers on all KS social networks : 15,000 subscribers minimum,
- Estimated number of unique online impressions of KS’ social networks since 2017 : 136,321 web users reached [LinkedIn (50,000 unique visitors since 2017) + Website (51,321 since 2017) + X (35,000 unique visitors since 2018)],
- Dunbar number (the number of stable relationships people are cognitively able to maintain at once, assuming that each KS member has told half of his friends about Bitcoin) : <150 people (theoretical).
Scenarios
- Low range : 2000 * 25 ≈ 50,000 people reached (number of KS members * Dunbar number adjusted ≈ possible number of people close to KS members aculturated to Bitcoin)
- Middle range : 2000 * 75 ≈ 150,000 people reached (number of KS members * Dunbar number adjusted = possible number of people close to KS members aculturated to Bitcoin)
- High range : 2000 * 125 ≈ 250,000 people reached (number of KS members * Dunbar number adjusted = possible number of people close to KS members aculturated to Bitcoin)
Conclusion
It seems plausible to assume that KRYPTOSPHERE® has promoted i.e. democratized Bitcoin to a minimum of 50,000 people, an average of 150,000 people and a maximum of 250,000 people over it’s 7 years of activity (2017–2024).
As we can see from the data provided from its social networks, the average numbers of people reached online and offline are fairly close (~136,321 online versus ~150,000 offline), which seems to confirm that the average range of people aculturated to Bitcoin through KS would be around 150,000 people, i.e. approximately 21,000 people per year since 2017.
Besides the importance and satisfaction associated with this figure, I consider it to be fairly reliable in the light of KS’s day-to-day activities in France and, I hope, soon abroad.
